• We will accept submissions in open submission periods ONLY. 
• All submissions should be sent to: hueditor@theverbal.co
• Please state: title of submission and genre as the Subject Line of your email
• Submit your work as an attachment in a Word file (doc.x) (do NOT include your name on this page!) 
• All submissions must be in Times New Roman 12 and double-spaced (prose)
• Include your name and a short biography in the third person (50 words) as well as a photo (jpeg) of yourself in the body of your email

Poems

Send no more than 3 poems (no longer than 40 lines each)

Prose

Send 1 story of up to 3,500 words. Flash fiction or micro-fiction also considered.

Non- Fiction

Send work of no longer than 2,500 words

Please note we do not accept SIMULTANEOUS SUBMISSIONS or previously published work

We do not undertake edits on accepted submissions. All submissions are taken to be the writer's final finished piece of work.

If you have submitted to the HU and been accepted, please allow 6 months before submitting again. 

As we are a free online magazine we unfortunately cannot pay those who have successful submissions
